Day 27

Help Me Help Others Battling Cancer

Last year, I participated in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man and Woman of the Year campaign. With your help, you helped me surpass my fundraising goal within just 10 weeks in memory of my mother, Ruth Smith, who passed after battling lymphoma 10 years ago.

This year, I was asked to mentor an amazing candidate who is doing his own fundraising campaign, Chris Foyles. I was very excited to help Chris with his campaign, however, little did I know after to committing to assist with this year’s campaign, that I would be diagnosed with cancer myself.

On February 27, I was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of sarcomatoid mesothelioma cancer. Currently, there are no forms of treatment or cure for the form of cancer I am battling, however, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society have made amazing advances in fighting blood cancers. You never know when a breakthrough with one cancer might help with the type I am battling.

Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation. Your support will help fund therapies and treatments that will help save lives today. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but as I mentioned earlier, are now used to treat patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers.
